Composite video is still used for a number of reasons:
- The camera feed is composite;
- It is low cost and easy to implement;
- The resolution is considered acceptable, especially on smaller displays;
- Legacy support for older systems utilizing composite video;
As a result we have maintained composite video support on a number of Digital View LCD controllers, specifically the following noted together with their harsher environment equivalents:
In addition there is the AVD-1000 and harsher environment HVD-1000 version accessory board which adds multiple composite video input options for ‘SVX’ LCD models:
These controller and add-on boards provide display system developers with the ability to include composite video support with the extensive range of higher resolution panels on the market. We have standardized on the use of BNC connectors for the composite signal connector.
